Seeds of Life Series: Torah the Seeds for Life
The Two Struggling Seeds
Introduction
In this Torah portion we will see that Yehovah prophesies to Rivkah that in her womb she has two nations going to war inside her womb. This is a very interesting concept because the two nations can represent our spirit man and our fleshly man. The New Nature and the Old Nature. There is a constant fight going on in our minds and hearts as HaSatan is daily harassing us through various temptations or even demonic spirits.
The Genealogies of Isaac
Genesis 25:19-21
- It is important to know our beginnings just as it says to no despise the small beginnings.
- Isaac was 40 years old when he took Rivkah as His wife.
- Isaac prayed for His wife and Yehovah answered His plea and his wife Rivkah became pregnant. Husbands do you pray for your wives?
The Two Seeds At War
Genesis 25:22-24
- The children struggled together with one another inside her and she said if it's like this why is this happening to me?
- Instead of being negative and fighting she went to inquire of Yehovah and what did Yehovah say? Two nations are in your womb that will be at war with each other.
- As you will begin to see there are twins that were in the womb and from the womb throughout History Israel and Edom would always struggle against each other.
The Red and Smooth Man
Genesis 25:25-27
- The first twin came out reddish (Admoni) same as Adom.
- The second twin came out clasping Akav onto Esau's heel. Here we see His name is called Yaakov meaning Heel-Catcher.
- When they group up Esau was a man of the woods and Jacob became a someone who lived among the tents. TLV says a mild man but the Hebrew word is Tamam which means an upright or complete man. Tamam where we also get Tamim meaning blameless. Maybe this was a prophetic forecast of how Jacob would be.
Playing Favorites
Genesis 25:28-30
- Isaac loved Esau because He could catch food! Rivkah loved Yaakov that's it.
- Jacob was apparently a good cook and cooked a stew while Esau got into the encampment.
- He wanted some of that red stuff (Edom) in the pot. The word Edom here is the name of a condiment in Arabic as well.
Selling Out Over Stew
Genesis 25:31-34
- Jacob was shrewd and wanted Esau to sell the right of the firstborn to Him. He could care less over it. (Job 31:7) The birthright was more of a spiritual birthright rather than a property holding.
- He pledged to Jacob He would sell his birthright. (Hebrews 12:16).
- After Esau ate the lentils and bread He despised His birthright. He could care less about His spiritual heritage.
Take Away
- Esau and Jacob were twins born to Isaac and Rivkah.
- Jacob deceived Esau out of His birthright over food.
- Esau despised His birthright.
Application
- I will continue to not despise my birthright.
- I will thank Yehovah for the birth of Jacob as another ancestor of Yeshua.
- I will not allow my stomach to dictate what I do for Yehovah.
